AKARI Festival - Post Rock Festival
AKARI FESTIVAL is set to illuminate a chilly winter evening with an incredible lineup showcasing the finest talent from the UK’s post-rock, post-metal, heavy math, and alternative shoegaze scenes.
This year, the headliner is the acclaimed quartet LoE (Last of Eden) from Halifax. Their debut album, The World and Everything In It (2023), received significant praise, landing in the top five post-rock albums on the Post Rock Reddit page. After impressive performances at venues like the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge and festivals such as Post-in-Paris and London Prog Fest, 2024 promises to elevate their already polished tracks while introducing exciting new material that fans are sure to love.
Joining LoE on their November UK tour are the talented post-metal group Mountainscape from Reading. Their recent album, Iridescent, has been hailed as one of the standout post-metal/post-rock crossover records of the year. Based on their previous performances in Manchester, audiences can expect a captivating blend of the album's ethereal qualities alongside the heavier elements from their extensive discography, creating a dynamic and memorable experience.
The festival will also feature hosts Civil Service, who will perform their debut album, ///Light, in its entirety—an event that may be a rare opportunity for fans. After a successful UK tour with the American post-metal band BLACKSHAPE, Civil Service is excited to add their debut to the impressive lineup of albums showcased at AKARI, with ///Light released on October 4, 2024.
Additionally, New Ghost will return to the stage following the success of their single 'A Dagger in Every Tide,' which has garnered attention from notable outlets like Echoes and Dust and 6Music. Maebe will also make their return to Manchester after a national tour, bringing their ambitious post-rock sound that continues to push boundaries.
Newcastle's top math rock band, Dutch Elm, is set to reunite with the gang for their first Manchester performance in more than a year. After captivating the audience at their previous gig at 33 Oldham St, they are back with a collection of fresh tracks and an evolving sound. Their comeback is sure to be just as enchanting as before.
