Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1LU
Moyse’s Hall has looked out over the Market Place of Bury St Edmunds for almost a thousand years. Built in 1180, it is a rare and important example of Norman domestic architecture. The entrance area still has the original Norman stone vault supported by low pillars but Moyse’s Hall has seen many changes and additions.
Today it is a museum which displays aspects of the story of Bury St Edmunds and West Suffolk. It has themed displays based on the Abbey and St Edmund, local history, the Red Barn murder, witchcraft, crime, punishment, Suffolk Regiment, textiles, clocks, watches and paintings.
