Dartmoor Llama Walks

Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 7PJ

Set in the heart of the stunning Dartmoor National Park near Widecombe-in-the-Moor, come and experience the beautiful rugged landscape of this unspoilt area of the Southwest of England.

We are offering a range of guided Dartmoor walks, no need to worry about carrying rucksacks and waterproofs or even your picnic lunch as our experienced trekking llamas will carry this for you.

We will give you a flavour of the different aspects of the moor whether it be craggy granite tors, heather moorland, patchwork farmland, deep wooded gorges or tumbling rivers. The Dartmoor National Park covers an area of 368 square miles and is the largest and wildest area of open country in southern England.

Llamas make ideal walking companions as they are very calm and gentle animals as well as being alert and intelligent, they will gladly allow you to give up your backpack (they are not called the truck of the Andes for nothing).

Llama Walks

Dartmoor llama walks offer a range of walks suitable for all abilities and varying in length. We operate all year round as long as the weather allows. We can tailor our walks to meet your requirements.

This year due to popularity of our walks we are introducing a more structured program to enable us to meet the increase in demand.

Half Day Walks

We start by meeting our Llamas followed by a short introduction about the animals and instruction on how to handle them on the walk. We then start our walk over moorland and country lanes stopping for a lunch break and rest for the llamas. We include a homemade picnic using local produce, hot or cold drinks. Continuing our walk we return to either the start point or a pre arranged finish point.

Cream Tea Walks

A shorter walk lasting 2 1/2 - 3 hrs following the same format as the Half Day walk. Stopping to enjoy a traditional Cream Tea of homemade scones, Jam and Devonshire Clotted Cream with a choice of Tea, Coffee or soft drinks.

Short/Evening Walk

Starting with a short introduction we then set off for a relaxing evening walk, if weather and time permit we can stop at a vantage point enjoy some light refreshments are included in the price.

This short walk could also be taken in a morning/afternoon to include Coffee/tea and homemade cake.

Individually Tailored Walks

We can tailor walks to your needs and abilities and are happy to discuss your individual requirements. We can meet you at a car park or bus stop. Our start and finish times can be flexible to suit your itinerary with prior notice.

Events

We often take our Llamas and Alpacas to Village fairs, Farmers Markets and Organic festivals we have even taken them to Hospitals. We know of Llamas who have attended weddings, been involved in corporate events and film productions. If you would like to have an unusual addition to your fundraising event please contact us to discuss rates etc.
