“Blighty One! Blighty One! You’re lucky, Johnny; they’re sending you home, son.”
An injured young soldier returns from the Front Line of the First World War to Netley Hospital, where, as an eight-year-old boy, he delivered newspapers to patients on the very same ward.
This specially commissioned puppetry performance links one of Hampshire’s most recognisable landmarks – the Chapel that remains in Royal Victoria Country Park – to the history behind this inspiring true story.
After each show, join director Rosanna Sloan for an hour-long, hands-on family workshop to make and create puppets, and re-tell the stories of other soldiers treated at the hospital.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Places are limited. Suitable for ages 9+.
Saturday August 26th & Sunday August 27th
Performance: 11am & 2pm
Puppetry workshop: 12pm & 3pm
Tickets for both the performance and puppetry workshop are free, but must be booked in advance because spaces are limited.
