Summer Steamings at Bolton Steam Museum

Our volunteers have rescued and restored over 30 old stationary steam engines, which once powered the cotton mills and woollen mills of the North of England. Most will be running in steam on these 2 days only from 10.00am to 4.00pm..
Volunteers from the Northern Mill Engine Society have worked hard to restore these old engines back to running order. We have a wide range of old mill engines Our oldest is nearly 150 years old, and most are now well over 100 years old! We hold a few steaming days each year to give people an opportunity to see these mechanical monsters back in action once again. Everyone at the Museum is a volunteer, so we do not charge an admission fee, though we appreciate a donation to help cover our running costs. We have full disabled access, and a cafe which offers drinks and snacks, and a wide range of second hand books and magazines, so come and pick up a bargain!
