Part of EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL 2024

Hungarian-born Tomi Balogh is set to captivate audiences with his musical prowess.

Tomi Balogh, born in Hungary in 1993, is an artist, pianist, composer, and producer based in London. After earning a master’s degree in jazz composition from the Franz Liszt University of Music in Budapest, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied jazz piano under the mentorship of Kevin Harris. During his time at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Tomi gained invaluable insights from renowned professors such as Károly Binder and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos. Immersing himself in the works of 20th-century modern composers like Igor Stravinsky and Béla Bartók helped him develop a unique approach to creating harmonies. Simultaneously, he began writing and producing contemporary R&B and hip-hop music.

Tomi has collaborated as a producer, composer, and pianist with a wide range of artists, including Solére, Beton Hofi, Gigi Radics, Bubby Lewis, Yolanda Brown OBE and Jem Wax, among many others. His innovative contributions have earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the Creative Art Award founded by George Vukan and the Junior Prima Award. He was also listed among "The 50 Talented Young Hungarians" and was featured as a TEDx speaker. Tomi advocates for the idea that various musical styles are not in competition but rather complement each other, enriching the musical landscape as a whole.
